Nature, its culture, art, design and fashion that celebrate old tradition, craftsmanship and sustainability have been the main features at Floracult, the event created by the pioneer fashion designer – of Carmina Campus, brand of ethical fashion which promotes the culture of re-use – which was held in the Rome countryside at La Storta, I Casali del Pino, staged by Studio Dottor, architects studio of Pietro Dottor.

One of the features has been the Scuola per reinventori (School for re-inventors), in its second edition, curated by Clara Tosi Pamphili and Alessio De Navasques which hosted a factory of hand-embroidery and installation that showcased the sketches by Vincenzo Montini along with the vintage clothes by Elisabeth the first

It was also on show a bright idea, the digital vegetable garden, which joined the multimedia and the vegetable world, giving the chance to know immediately and easily about a grass by clicking on the picture of a grass.

...how it works

I also was pleasantly amazed by the exhibition of photographs made by the visual and performer artist Emiliano Maggi which told about the tradition of boar-hunting under the sign of grotesque suggestions.

It will be opened on the 3rd May 2013, at 7:00 pm, in Rome at the Rossmut gallery and concept store “Blue K”, the performance by the celebrated Rome artist Pizzi Cannella, directed by Angelo Cricchi, featuring in an exhibition curated by Laurent Boudier which will run through 31st July 2013 and will include artworks on paper and ceramic works created for the event. The performance, set up months ago by the artist, proposes again the Anthropometries by Ives Klein from 1960, joined to the live performance of “Monotone symphony” ideated by Yves Klein and performed by Archi di Roma. Pizzi Cannella successfully continues the survey on a feeling, nostalgia and a color, the blue, reminding me the masterpiece on film by Derek Jarman. A not to be missed happening to enjoy a vibrant contemporary artist.

The exhibition which will run through 15th October 2013, will showcase for the first time three painting that have commissioned by Gianni Agnelli in 1987, immediately after the passing of the celebrated Jewish author( of novels as “The truce”, told on film by Francesco Rosi, featuring John Turturro), who survived to the Auschwitz concentration camp and later during the years got suicide himself, to remember him and the Shoah. A not to be missed happening to celebrate art and literature and remembering the history, one of its darkest chapters and the atrocities made against Jewish people who always were bringers of culture and gave a relevant moral and material contribute yesterday and today to the world where we live.

A contemporary reflection on the punk and on the Met exhibition themes which represents the debut of Chris Sutton Studio. There are just sixteen days for the end of fundraising, thus let’s join and support, giving our modest contribution to make concrete this smashing artistic project and celebrate an unforgettable movement (where the nihilism was vibrant and dynamic critique instead if the static one featuring frequently in the contemporary times) and its fashion suggestions.

The exhibition also includes the pictures of Primo Levi, the book he wrote “If this is a man”, a touching page -played in a monologue by John Turturro as Primo Levi in the film “The truce” by Franco Rosi – and other objects evoking a dark time which has not to be forget in order to stop violence and discrimination.

That a sensitive issue considering the rise of controversial neo-nazi and neo-fascist movements as the Golden Dawn in Greece and Forza Nuova in Italy. The history teaches us, violence in dark times arises from the socio-economic precariousness, ignorance along with a fragile political frame. Therefore it is doubly important to increase consciousness, knowledge and culture – as this event successfully proved -  in order to oppose to violence.

La Parisienne” the fashion show which presents the haute couture collection by the genius Jean-Paul Gaultier and tells about the synergy there is between the fashion Capitals Paris and Rome, will be one of the smashing events (which will be held on 7th July 2013 at the Rome Complesso Monumentale di Santo Spirito at 8:00 pm) featuring in the calendar of Altaroma which will be held in Rome from 5th to 10th July 2013.

Jean-Paul Gaultier

Jean-Paul Gaultier

Art and fashion, a synergy emphasized by the work of Silvia Venturini Fendi as President of Altaroma, will feature in the event “My room in Rome” by Laura Urbinati which will be held on 5th July 2013 in Rome at the Hotel Locarno for the Altaroma pre-opening and will host the creations by the fashion designer along with four videos made by Ottonella Mocellin and Nicola Pellegrini (artists residents in the celebrated Lia Rumma art gallery), starring Candela Novembre.

Silvia Venturini Fendi

Silvia Venturini Fendi

Emerging creativity and talent-scouting is a leitmotiv of Altaroma as successfully it has evidenced by the two formats it created, the talent scouting award WION (Who Is On Next), organized in collaboration with Vogue Italia and Room Service, event under the sign of creativity on demand and demi-couture showcasing and giving the chance to sale the creations of many brilliant fashion designers who have discovered by Altaroma and are today hosted by renowned fashion tradeshow events as the Florentine Pitti and Milan White tradeshow.

Simonetta Gianfelici

A suggestive display of fashion which will present the first womenswear collection by the brilliant fashion designer Fabio Quaranta as well as the creations under the sign of lightness and dynamism by the sophisticated and genius Angelo Bratis.

Last but not the least a theme (which is very closely connected to me), ethical fashion will be the core of a fashion project made by Altaroma in collaboration with the UN Agency ITC(International Trade Centre),featuring renowned emerging creatives as Stella Jean as well as Cangiari, Calabria womenswear brand of ethical fashion.

A catchy tourbillon of events that depict and give to Rome a central and active role in the Italian contemporary fashion scene.
